This expressive and balanced white wine originates from the United States, specifically from coastal regions within the state of California. Sea Sun is produced by winemaker Charlie Wagner, whose family founded the renowned Caymus Vineyards and has deep roots in Napa Valley dating back to the 1850s. The winery's philosophy is rooted in exploring diverse coastal vineyard sites; spanning Monterey, Santa Barbara, and Solano counties, where the cooling 'sea' breezes and bright 'sun' allow for an extended growing season and heightened fruit complexity.
Wine Description
Sea Sun Chardonnay presents a brilliant appearance with enticing scents of toasted wood, brown spice, and lush dried apricot. The sensory profile is further layered with alluring aromas of honeysuckle and candied Meyer lemon rind. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied and 'lush yet vibrant', showcasing bright flavours of white peach, apricot, and mandarin orange. It is characterized by a creamy, buttery texture balanced by a lively natural acidity that provides an enlivening freshness. The finish is round and persistent, often described as having a 'grippy' and toasty quality. This 100% Chardonnay typically reaches an ABV of approximately 14.1%. While the Wagner family emphasizes natural forces in their viticulture, this wine is not certified organic.
