From France’s Loire Valley, this wine hails from the Saumur appellation, specifically the Puy-Notre-Dame subregion. Domaine de la Paleine, an organically and biodynamically farmed estate, oversees around 35 hectares of vines. Established with a philosophy of expressing terroir through minimal intervention, the domaine is known for producing elegant and terroir-driven Cabernet Franc and Chenin Blanc.
Wine Description
This Cabernet Franc displays a deep ruby hue. The nose offers lifted aromas of red cherry, raspberry, and subtle blackcurrant, accented by mineral undertones and a hint of spice. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied, with supple tannins and lively acidity. Flavours of ripe red fruit mingle with earthy and herbal notes, finishing long and balanced. The wine shows freshness and precision, reflecting the limestone and marl soils of the region.
Food Pairing
Pairs beautifully with roast lamb, grilled beef, duck breast, or earthy mushroom dishes. It also complements hard cheeses such as aged Comté or Cheddar.
