Privada Storytelling
In 2021, Privada and the LCA reignited a legend. The Room 101 Murder Hornet was Matt Booth’s long-awaited return to Honduran puros—a throwback to the cigars that made Room 101 a cult favorite in the early 2010s. Rolled at the renowned Raíces Cubanas factory, the Murder Hornet reintroduced a style Booth hadn’t touched in nearly a decade, reminding aficionados what “old school” Room 101 really tasted like.
More than a cigar, this was a resurrection. Booth’s Honduran work had been celebrated for its nuance, balance, and bold identity, and the Murder Hornet carried that torch forward. The limited LCA release sold fast, instantly becoming one of the most talked-about drops in the club. Now, with over two years of Privada-controlled aging, the Hornet’s sting has mellowed into honeyed harmony—its boldness refined, its character matured, its roots preserved.
Flavor Journey
First Third: Bright notes of roasted coffee and oak lead the way, with black tea and charred wood rising quickly into the profile. Subtle floral whispers emerge in the retrohale, offering grace to the strength of the opening.
Second Third: The cigar settles into balance. Tea and oak remain present, joined by a soft honey sweetness that rounds out the profile. Florals expand, weaving themselves into the smoke like fragrant threads, while charred wood provides backbone.
Final Third: The Hornet closes with deep oak, a resurgence of coffee, and lingering tea tannins. Florals fade to the background while charred wood becomes more dominant, leaving a dry, classic Honduran finish that recalls Booth’s earliest masterpieces.
Why It Belongs in Privada
The Murder Hornet represents exactly why Privada exists: a legendary blender returning to his roots, a factory known for producing some of the most revered Honduran puros, and a release that otherwise would have been lost to time. By aging it for over two years, Privada ensures members experience it not just as it was—but as it has become: refined, layered, and timeless. This cigar is both a history lesson and a celebration.
