The Romeo y Julieta Churchill could be the most valued Churchill cigar on earth and has won many awards. Romeo y Julieta’s aromatic blend of selected leaves from the Vuelta Abajo region make it the classic medium-bodied cigar. Named after William Shakespeare’s tragic lovers, the origin of Romeo y Julieta as a cigar brand date back to 1875. The brand rose to international fame during the early years of the 20th century under the direction of Don “Pepin” Fernandez, who was amongst the first to recognize the attraction of the cigar band.
Winston Churchill became a devotee of Romeo y Julieta and since his visit to Havana in 1946, his name has been commemorated on a band and used to describe the marque’s most famous size – 7 inches x 47 – the Churchill.
This cigar is full of rich flavour, has a very smooth, consistent draw, and never tires or becomes bitter. Unlike the other Churchills, notes of earth, cherry and vanilla.
