Ridge Vineyards Lytton Springs Estate 2022 originates from the United States, within California's Sonoma County region and the Dry Creek Valley subregion. The iconic Lytton Springs vineyard was first harvested by Ridge in 1972, with this release marking the 50th bottling of the historic field blend. Ridge Vineyards is celebrated for its commitment to pre-industrial winemaking practices, native yeast fermentation, and organic vineyard stewardship, crafting site-specific wines from century-old heritage vines grown in gravelly clay soils.
Wine Description
This red wine displays a deep ruby colour with purple reflections. The nose is complex and highly expressive, delivering aromas of crushed blackberry, boysenberry, black plum, and violet, alongside notes of anise, cigar box, toasty oak, and mint. On the palate, it exhibits a full body with a rich, seamless texture and generous dark fruit concentration. Stylistically, the wine delivers a harmonious balance between intense berry fruit, lively acidity, and firm, powdery tannins, finishing with lingering layers of dark chocolate, pepper, and dried herbs.
Varietal composition: 67% Zinfandel, 19% Petite Sirah, 11% Carignane, 3% Alicante Bouschet
Alcohol by volume: 14.4%
