This expressive red wine originates from the Nebbiolo d'Alba DOC, though it is also classified under the Langhe DOC, within the Piedmont region of Italy. Prunotto is a historic estate founded as a winemaking co-operative in 1904 and later renamed by Alfredo Prunotto in 1923. Owned by the Antinori family since 1994, the winery was the first in the region to establish the 'cru' concept, identifying specific vineyards of excellence for single vineyard vinification. The winemaking philosophy emphasizes a balance between tradition and innovation, utilizing sustainable agriculture and manual techniques to express the finest potential of each unique terroir.
Wine Description
The Prunotto Occhetti Nebbiolo d'Alba displays a garnet-tinged ruby red colour. The sensory profile is elegant and classic, featuring a nose of red cherry, raspberry, and rose petal complemented by hints of licorice, plums, and a touch of earth. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and harmonious, showcasing juicy red fruit and subtle savoury notes framed by silky tannins and bright acidity. It is characterized by a refined structure and a persistent, lengthy finish with lingering floral and mineral tones.
