Nastro Azzurro Stile Capri is a modern, Mediterranean-inspired expansion of the iconic Peroni portfolio. Launched to capture the essence of a "summer in a bottle," it is a light, easy-drinking lager designed to compete in the premium "sunshine beer" category (think Corona or Sol, but with Italian flair). It departs from the crisp bitterness of the standard Nastro Azzurro by adding a delicate infusion of Mediterranean lemon and olive leaf extract, resulting in a beer specifically tailored for beach clubs, patios, and hot Italian afternoons.
Beer Description
This lager pours a brilliant, pale straw-yellow—noticeably lighter than the original Peroni—with a fizzy, bright white head and high, sparkling carbonation.
Aroma: The nose is immediate and breezy. It leads with a clean, zesty scent of fresh lemon peel and a very subtle, earthy herbal note from the olive leaf. Underneath is a light, crackery malt base with virtually no heavy hop presence.
Palate: On the tongue, it is light-bodied and incredibly refreshing. It leads with a soft, grainy sweetness that is quickly brightened by a delicate citrus tang. Unlike the original Nastro Azzurro, which has a distinct hoppy "bite," Stile Capri has a very low, rounded bitterness. The finish is short, clean, and crisp, with a faint, savory herbal undertone that keeps the citrus from feeling like a "shandy."
Profile: It has a highly sessionable ABV of 4.2% (lower than the standard 5.0% Nastro Azzurro) and very low bitterness, prioritizing maximum "crushability."
Technical Notes: Brewed with the same high-quality Italian maize (Nostrano dell’Isola) as the flagship, but finished with natural extracts of lemon and olive leaf. This infusion is designed to provide a "natural" refreshment rather than a sugary, flavored profile. It is often served directly from its clear glass bottle (which is UV-resistant to prevent skunking) with or without a slice of fresh lemon.
