The wine is made from 100% Nerello Mascalese grapes. It generally presents with a ruby clear colour.
The aromatic profile is noted for being surprisingly interesting and floral, with notes of rose petals, violets, plums, cherries, and wild strawberries. Other aromas include earthy notes, pencil shavings, dried leather, tobacco, spices, and herbs.
On the palate, it is dry and is often described as medium-bodied, with medium-plus acidity and medium tannins. Flavours include sour red cherry, cranberry, and other red fruits.
The wine is appreciated for its soft tannins, balanced acidity, and good balance. It is certified organic.
It offers a delightful experience often likened to fine Pinot Noir, with enough structure to age well for around 5–15 years, depending on the producer.
