Pavillon Rouge du Chateau Margaux is the historic second wine of Chateau Margaux, led by Cabernet Sauvignon and complemented by Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. The wine combines refined structure, concentrated fruit, fine tannins, freshness, and depth, offering an accessible expression of the estate's distinctive character.
Food Pairing: Pairs best with roast lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, or grilled venison.
96 Points - James Suckling
A plush and opulent Pavillon Rouge with plums, boysenberries and hints of cedar and chocolate. Full-bodied, with powdery tannins and a long, flavorful finish. Juicy and delicious, it is already highly attractive while retaining the structure expected from Chateau Margaux.
93 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2022 Pavillon Rouge offers expressive aromas of raspberries and mulberries with licorice, anise and spices. Medium to full-bodied, rich and layered, it is concentrated and structured, with a substantial core of fruit supported by sweet, powdery tannins. It is a serious Pavillon Rouge that will reward patience.
