Portland Syrups Caramel Syrup is a 12 oz bottle of smooth, all-natural caramel syrup designed to add rich, sweet caramel flavor to coffee, cold drinks, cocktails, and desserts.
This concentrated caramel syrup blends organic cane sugar and caramelized brown sugar to deliver a warm, rounded sweetness without artificial aftertaste. Packaged in a 12-ounce bottle that yields about 24 servings, it makes coffee-shop style beverages and cocktails easy to prepare at home. The syrup is vegan, gluten-free, and non-GMO, shelf-stable for long-term storage, and best refrigerated after opening to maintain freshness.
How much syrup do I use per drink to get balanced caramel flavor?
Portland Syrups’ caramel concentrate is formulated for consistent dosing so you can hit the right sweetness every time. For most standard hot or iced coffees, start with 0.5 oz (about 1 tablespoon) and adjust to taste; stronger drinks or desserts can handle slightly more.
- Standard latte or iced coffee: 0.5 oz (1 tablespoon)
- Sweet cocktails or dessert sauces: 0.75–1 oz depending on sweetness desired
- Cold brews and strong espresso: 0.5–0.75 oz for balanced flavor
What ingredients are in this caramel syrup and how does that affect flavor?
This syrup uses organic cane sugar and caramelized brown sugar as the flavor base, giving it a toasted, buttery caramel note rather than an overly sweet, artificial taste. The simple ingredient list keeps the flavor clean and lets the caramel character shine through milk, coffee, and spirits.
- Primary sweeteners: organic cane sugar and caramelized brown sugar
- No artificial flavors or colors, resulting in a natural caramel profile
- Vegan, gluten-free, and non-GMO to suit varied diets
Can I use this caramel syrup in cocktails and hot or cold drinks?
Yes — the syrup is crafted to dissolve smoothly in both hot and cold beverages, making it versatile for lattes, cold brews, mixed drinks, and even dessert applications. Its viscosity and sweetness level work well as a direct swap for coffeehouse syrups or as an ingredient in cocktail recipes.
- Cold applications: blends cleanly into iced lattes and cold brews
- Hot applications: dissolves quickly in steamed milk and coffee
- Cocktails: adds caramel depth to whiskey, rum, and cream-based drinks
How long will one bottle last and how should I store it?
One 12 oz bottle yields roughly 24 standard servings, making it an economical way to replicate café-style drinks at home. The unopened bottle stores well at room temperature for extended shelf life; refrigerate after opening to preserve flavor and quality.
- Servings per bottle: approximately 24 at 0.5 oz per serving
- Unopened shelf stability: long shelf life (check label for exact expiry)
- After opening: refrigerate and use within the timeframe on the label
