Ornellaia Bolgheri Superiore
Crafted on the Tuscan coast near Bolgheri, this Super Tuscan red is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. Ornellaia was founded in 1981 and is now one of Italy’s most prestigious estates. The vineyards span over 70 plots, each vinified separately to express its unique terroir. The estate’s proximity to the sea and its diverse soils contribute to the wine’s complexity and elegance.
The wine is matured for 18 months in French oak (70% new), followed by 12 months in bottle. Ornellaia Bolgheri Superiore stands as a beacon of Italian luxury winemaking. This esteemed blend embodies the essence of Ornellaia estate's meticulous craftsmanship. Their profound expertise, and unwavering commitment to producing wines of unmatched sophistication and depth.
This vintage is born from the esteemed vineyards nestled in the heart of the Bolgheri DOC. Here the interplay of the maritime climate and diverse soils creates wines of exceptional complexity and character.
- The enticing scent of charred caramel and liquorice greets the senses. Following with a lively acidity that dances alongside abundant flavours of olive tapenade, ripe blackberry, and juicy raspberry
- Initially caressed by velvety tannins, they gradually tighten, unveiling the profound complexity of Ornellaia. Layers of graphite, savoury cassis, fragrant sage, bay leaf, forest floor, and white truffle spices emerge, lending depth and intrigue
- Well-structured and poised for ageing, this wine promises to reach its zenith after five or six years in the bottle, and will continue to evolve gracefully for decades to come
This majestic wine pairs with prime cuts of beef, lamb, or game, as well as with indulgent risottos bursting with flavour and mature cheeses.
