Opus One 2016 in the 1.5L magnum comes from the Oakville, Napa Valley estate created by Baron Philippe de Rothschild and Robert Mondavi. The 2016 blend is 77% Cabernet Sauvignon with four other Bordeaux grapes, aged 18 months in new French oak. See more from Opus One.
The winery calls this vintage elegant and bright. Red and blue berries, baking spice, vanilla and florals meet savory sage and black olive. Black cherry, blackberry and cassis lead into a finish of dark chocolate and espresso.
Magnums are made for cellaring and sharing. Decant it for an hour and serve with prime rib or lamb. A standout for collectors of Bordeaux-style red blends.
