Music has a rhythm, and so does whiskey. The Old Soul Tintype Series #3 is a liquid homage to that shared cadence, dedicated to North Mississippi Hill Country blues legend Kenny Brown. While many bourbons hide behind marketing fluff, this bottle lays everything bare: uncut, unfiltered, and aged for a staggering eleven years.
It starts with a high-rye mashbill—60% corn, 36% rye, 4% malted barley—that was distilled in Indiana but found its voice in the sweltering heat of Jackson, Mississippi. The climate here doesn't just age whiskey; it attacks it. The humidity forces the spirit deep into the wood and back out again, creating a profile that is dense and savory.
Bottled at a natural cask strength of 103.5 proof, this bourbon defies the expectation that "barrel proof" must mean "ethanol burn." Instead, you get a viscous, oily pour that drinks with dangerous ease. It captures a specific moment in the barrel's life, much like the tintype photograph of Kenny Brown on the label captures a piece of his soul. If you want to taste the blues, pour this.
