Old Forester Birthday Bourbon 2024 Release marks the 24th annual iteration of this highly anticipated vintage-dated bottling, created to celebrate founder George Garvin Brown's birthday on September 2nd. Selected under the direction of Master Taster Melissa Rift, the 2024 release was drawn from 209 barrels filled on June 10, 2012, and aged for 12 years. Bottled at 107 proof (53.5% ABV), this expression presents a richer, higher-proof profile relative to previous releases, showcasing Old Forester’s classic mashbill with deep notes of caramelized sugar, ripe orchard fruit, rich spice, and structured oak.
Food Pairing: Pairs exceptionally well with roasted venison, dark chocolate truffles, pecan pie, aged sharp cheddar, and charcuterie with dried fruit and toasted nuts.
Tasting Notes: A bold and full-bodied 12-year-old bourbon featuring a balance of dark caramelized sugar, juicy orchard fruit, rich cocoa, and warming oak spice.
Nose: Bright floral notes and ripe plum opening into rich brown sugar, dark honey, toasted oak, and a warm dusting of cinnamon and cocoa.
Palate: Velvety and rich with layers of caramelized fruit, dark chocolate, toasted vanilla bean, baking spices, and well-integrated oak tannins.
Finish: Long and warming with enduring notes of dark caramel, toasted oak, lingering spice, and dry cocoa.
Serve: Enjoy neat in a Glencairn glass or with a few drops of limestone water to open up its complex aromas.
