New Amsterdam Tangerine is a flavored vodka from the New Amsterdam Spirits Company in Modesto, California. It's bottled at 70 proof, or 35% ABV. The vodka is distilled five times and filtered three times for a clean start.
Open the bottle and you'll smell fresh tangerine and orange. The taste is tangy and citrusy, with a sweet-and-sour bite like ripe fruit. It finishes smooth and crisp, so it never feels heavy.
The brand's go-to serve is the Citrus Splash. Pour 1.5 ounces into a rocks glass full of ice. Top it with 3 ounces of lemon-lime soda and add an orange wedge. Soda water, tonic, lemonade and cranberry juice all work well too.
Keep it cold for quick shots or big summer pitchers. It goes nicely with grilled shrimp, fish tacos or a fresh fruit salad. If you like bright, simple drinks without fuss, this is a fun bottle to have around.
