Micro Ingredients Citric Acid (6 lb) is a 100% pure, food‑grade fine granular powder in an anhydrous form used for cooking, cleaning, preserving, and DIY bath and body projects.
This large 6‑pound pack delivers concentrated citric acid in a finely milled, fast‑dissolving form that’s designed for home cooks, makers, and cleaners who want a versatile, shelf‑stable acidulant. Sourced as a non‑GMO ingredient and tested by third‑party labs, it works as a flavor enhancer in recipes, a natural preservative for canning, a pH adjuster for cosmetics, and an effective descaler in household cleaning. The granular texture blends easily into liquids and batters, and the anhydrous (dry) form extends storage life compared with hydrated variants.
How will this citric acid improve my home cooking and baking?
Citric acid adds bright acidity without adding liquid, so it’s ideal when you want tang without changing batter or syrup consistency. Use it to balance sweetness, enhance fruit flavors, or substitute for lemon juice when a precise acidic punch is needed. Because it’s food grade and finely ground, it dissolves quickly into sauces, jams, and beverage syrups.
- Adds clean, tart flavor to jams, jellies, and candy.
- Helps stabilize fruit color and improve shelf life in preserves.
- Works as a salt‑free acidifier for recipes needing precise pH.
- Easy to measure in bulk for frequent or commercial kitchen use.
Can I use this for cleaning and descaling around the house?
Yes — citric acid is a biodegradable acid commonly used as a scale remover and general cleaner. It breaks down mineral buildup and soap scum without harsh fumes, making it a practical alternative to stronger chemical descalers for kettles, coffee makers, showerheads, and tile. Always follow dilution guidance and test on a small area for sensitive surfaces.
- Dissolves limescale from kettles and coffee machines when mixed with water.
- Removes rust stains and mineral deposits from fixtures and appliances.
- Formulate DIY cleaners with vinegar or baking soda for boosted cleaning power.
- Biodegradable and easy to store in dry bulk for repeated household use.
How does this product work for DIY bath bombs and skincare recipes?
The fine granules react with baking soda and water to produce the fizzy effect in bath bombs, and the anhydrous form keeps mixtures dry until activated. Citric acid can also act as a pH adjuster in creams and serums, helping formulas reach a safer, skin‑compatible acidity when used responsibly. Measure carefully and follow tested recipes to maintain product stability and skin safety.
- Makes smooth, effervescent bath bombs when combined with sodium bicarbonate.
- Allows precise pH balancing in home cosmetics formulations.
- Fine texture reduces gritty feel in finished bath products.
- Large pack supports multiple batches for hobbyists and small makers.
What should I know about purity, storage, and portioning for bulk use?
This citric acid is supplied in an anhydrous, concentrated form without fillers or common allergens. Micro Ingredients conducts third‑party testing to confirm purity and non‑GMO claims. To maintain potency and prevent clumping, store in a cool, dry place with the package sealed; use a dry scoop to avoid introducing moisture.
- Non‑GMO and free from soy, dairy, gluten, fillers, and preservatives.
- Approximately 1,360 servings if using 2 g per half‑scoop measurement.
- Keep in airtight container to prevent moisture uptake and caking.
- Label and date transferred bulk containers for inventory tracking.
Who is this for? Home cooks, small‑batch artisans, and household maintenance enthusiasts will find this 6‑pound Micro Ingredients citric acid especially useful. It’s well suited to anyone who regularly makes preserves, candied goods, DIY bath and beauty products, or who needs a cost‑effective descaler and cleaner. If you prefer a versatile, food‑grade ingredient in a concentrated, easy‑dissolving powder and frequently work in volumes that make single small jars impractical, this family‑size pack offers value and convenience without unnecessary additives.
