Michter's Small Batch US No.1 Sour Mash Whiskey
Michter's is one of the most celebrated names in American whiskey, based in Louisville, Kentucky. This expression revives a style that was very popular through the 1970s and 1980s. It uses the traditional sour mash method, where part of an earlier ferment starts the next, much like sourdough. A unique grain recipe means it sits outside both bourbon and rye, bottled at a comfortable 43%.
- The nose is warm and sweet, with caramel, vanilla and baked bread.
- The palate is silky and smooth, offering butterscotch, sugared almonds and soft orchard fruit.
- It finishes gently spiced, with cinnamon and a touch of warming rye spice.
Sip it neat, over ice, or in an Old Fashioned. It pairs nicely with glazed ham, roast pork or a slice of apple pie.
