Introduction
This red wine is from Italy, produced in the Abruzzo region within the Montepulciano d'Abruzzo appellation. Masciarelli Tenute Agricole was founded in 1981 by Gianni Masciarelli, a pioneer who transformed the reputation of Abruzzese wines by introducing innovative vineyard management and high density planting to the region. The winery's philosophy emphasizes 100% estate production, with vineyards farmed sustainably across all four provinces of Abruzzo to express the unique diversity of the local terroir.
Wine Description
The Masciarelli Montepulciano d'Abruzzo displays a deep ruby red colour. The nose is intense and complex, offering aromas of dark cherry, blackberry, and redcurrant alongside subtle floral notes of violet and savory hints of tobacco and leather. On the palate, the wine is medium to full bodied with a fleshy texture, featuring flavours of ripe wild berries, plum, and attractive smoky or spicy notes. It is characterized by its vibrant acidity, elastic tannins, and a long, fresh finish. This 100% Montepulciano wine typically has an ABV of 13.5% and is intended to be consumed in its youth, generally within 3 to 5 years of the vintage.
