Introduction
Masahiro Kaijin Blended Whisky is crafted by the Masahiro Distillery, located in the subtropical prefecture of Okinawa, Japan. Established in 1883 by Shobun Higa, the distillery is one of the oldest and largest in the region, traditionally renowned for producing Awamori, a local rice spirit. This expression, whose name 'Kaijin' translates to 'Seaman' or 'Sea God', is a blend of grain and vintage malt whiskies designed to reflect the majestic and mysterious character of the ocean surrounding the Ryukyu Islands.
Spirit Description
The whisky displays a bright golden hue in the glass. The nose is vibrant and exotic, offering aromas of citrus, vanilla, and tropical fruits such as pineapple and papaya, underpinned by a hint of fresh-cut grass and a subtle oceanic minerality. On the palate, it is light-bodied yet rich, delivering an elegant balance of oak, butterscotch, and warm spices like ginger and black pepper. The finish is long and creamy, leaving a lingering impression of exotic fruit and soft spice. It is bottled at 40% ABV.
