Markus Altenburger Blaufränkisch vom Kalk is a red natural wine from the Leithaberg region in Burgenland, Austria. The vineyards are situated on calcareous loam soils, which impart a unique minerality to the wine. Altenburger employs organic and biodynamic farming practices, emphasizing biodiversity and soil health. The grapes are hand-harvested and undergo spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts. The wine is matured primarily in large, old wooden barrels, allowing for gentle oxygenation without imparting excessive oak flavors.
