A stunning, limited-edition single cask release from Malternative Belgium, Cognac No 42 "Le Lion Sage" is a mid-1970s vintage sourced from the legendary Laurichesse family reserve. Distilled in a traditional wood-fired alambic and matured in a Grande Champagne cellar, this exceptional spirit opens with a nuanced bouquet of rich aged fruit, vintage furniture polish, subtle leather, and candied citrus peels. On the palate, its cask-strength character delivers full-bodied resonance with waves of orchard fruits, mango, mandarin, and floral honey, beautifully structured by oaky warmth and beeswax. The finish is remarkably long and gently drying, leaving an elegant trail of dried apricot and lingering spice.
Food Pairing: Best enjoyed neat to fully appreciate the concentration and clarity of the cask-strength expression, or paired with high-quality dark chocolate.
