Little Pomona Pommeau of Herefordshire
Rich, rounded and beautifully concentrated, Little Pomona Pommeau of Herefordshire is an elegant English interpretation of a traditional French apple drink. Made by combining twice-distilled cider spirit with freshly pressed, unfermented apple juice, it captures the full character of the apple while preventing the juice from fermenting. The blend is then aged for 21 months in third-fill ex-wine casks, allowing the young spirit, fruit and wood to develop together.
The result is a luxurious yet remarkably fresh drink, balancing luscious apple sweetness with the warmth of cider eau-de-vie. Barrel maturation adds further layers of complexity, bringing notes of honey, butterscotch, burnt caramel, vanilla and star anise alongside vibrant, juicy apple.
- The nose is rich and aromatic, combining ripe apple with honey, vanilla and warm spice.
- The palate is luscious and rounded, with butterscotch, caramel and concentrated apple supported by gentle spirit warmth.
- The finish retains a fresh apple character beneath the richer notes of vanilla, spice and oak.
A fascinating alternative to traditional fruit brandy, Pommeau of Herefordshire combines the richness of a fortified apple drink with the freshness and character of English cider fruit.
