The LH Premium Colorado Robusto occupies an interesting middle ground in the LH portfolio, offering more depth and spice than the Claro without venturing into the darker character of the Maduro. Created by tobacconist and blender Nick Syris, the Colorado reflects his appreciation for traditional Cuban-style cigars, where balance, aroma and the interplay of different tobaccos matter more than outright strength. Handmade at Tabacos de Costa Rica, the blend pairs an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper with a Nicaraguan binder and a multinational filler blend.
At 5" x 52, the Robusto provides a particularly good balance between wrapper influence and the character of the tobacco underneath. The Habano wrapper brings an aromatic, gently spicy quality, while the interior contributes depth and a rounded smoking texture. The profile is woody and earthy, with toasted nuts, restrained spice and a subtle natural sweetness. There's enough body to satisfy an experienced palate, but the emphasis remains on refinement rather than intensity.
The Colorado Robusto is an excellent choice for the smoker who appreciates a traditional, medium-bodied cigar with a little more character than its understated appearance might suggest. Its classic proportions keep the blend focused, while the combination of Ecuadorian and Central American tobaccos gives it a personality distinct from the usual Nicaraguan puro. Put a few in the humidor and give this one your attention—it's the sort of cigar that rewards an experienced palate without demanding an occasion.
