The LH Premium Claro Toro is a Connecticut for the smoker who appreciates refinement but still expects the tobacco underneath to have something to say. Created by tobacconist and blender Nick Syris, the Claro wears a silky Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade wrapper over a more substantial multinational core. Syris developed LH with an experienced, Cuban-oriented palate in mind, and that influence comes through in a cigar that emphasizes balance, aroma and progression rather than simply chasing mildness.
At 6" x 54, the Toro gives the Claro considerably more room to unfold than the Robusto. The opening is creamy and aromatic, with toasted tobacco, cedar and a gentle floral sweetness, followed by almond, walnut and blonde coffee. As the cigar develops, subtle pepper and caramel emerge alongside a slightly tart quality that keeps the richer notes lively. The broader Toro format gives the interior tobaccos a little more presence, producing a rounded, medium-bodied smoke while preserving the elegance of the Connecticut wrapper.
For experienced smokers who normally regard Connecticut as too mild or predictable, the LH Claro Toro deserves a place in the rotation. It's smooth without being simple and nuanced without demanding constant attention—the kind of cigar that works beautifully with morning coffee but has enough depth for later in the day. Put a few in the humidor; this is Connecticut Shade interpreted by a blender who expects seasoned smokers to be paying attention.
