The 2020 Riesling Berg Roseneck Grosses Gewächs was grown in the Katerloch parcel, within the cleft of the vineyard. The nose is gentle with peach, almost creamy. The palate comes with much concentration and a fine phenolic structure. Freshness is expressed with lemon intensity, and a saltiness comes through on the finish. Despite the hot year, this is fresh and has a lovely long and salty echo. (Bone-dry) Drinking Window 2025-2050
The "Katerloch," or “Devil’s Hole,” is the amphitheater portion of the mountain that appears as though it was carved out of the slope of the Rüdesheimer Berg. These are some of Leitz’s steepest holdings alongside Schlossberg, with up to 65” inclines. Katerloch is always the coolest and leanest of the GG’s, typically expressing aromas of lime citrus, fennel and wintergreen alongside firm acid structure.
