Introduction:
Laphroaig Select is a refined yet approachable Islay single malt, crafted as an introduction to peated whisky. Drawing from a selection of casks, including Oloroso sherry butts, Pedro Ximénez hogsheads, ex-Bourbon casks, and new American oak barrels, this expression offers a smooth and complex balance of smoke, sweetness, and spice.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Forward peat smoke, followed by ripe red fruits.
- Palate: Sweet on the first sip, evolving into layers of peat smoke, ash, and seaweed.
- Finish: Long and lingering with floral notes, hints of marzipan, and a touch of lime.
Pairings:
Best enjoyed neat or with a drop of water to enhance its complexity. Pairs well with smoked salmon, grilled meats, rich cheeses, and dark chocolate, complementing its smoky and slightly sweet character.
Awards:
- Gold Medal – San Francisco World Spirits Competition (2022)
- Gold Medal – San Francisco World Spirits Competition (2020)
