Laphroaig 33 Year Old Strong Characters Chapter One Whisky
Introducing the first instalment of the Strong Characters series. A limited-edition collection of Laphroaig whiskies dedicated to the bold individuals who have shaped the distillery's iconic legacy. This inaugural release honours Donald Johnston, the visionary co-founder who established Laphroaig in 1815.
Crafted from a selection of American oak ex-bourbon casks and European oak sherry-seasoned hogsheads. This 33-year-old single malt is a testament to Laphroaig's enduring commitment to quality. Matured for over three decades, the whisky has developed a complex character that seamlessly blends sweet desserts, gentle sherry, and savoury peat smoke.
- Notes of creme brulee, stewed rhubarb, apple custard, creamy fudge, heather honey, sourdough bread, and briny sea spray.
- A gentle sherry influence adds notes of fruit cake and subtle spice.
- The peat element reveals savoury aromas of smoked ham, cured mackerel, and a herbal, almost grassy smoke
- Adding a splash of water to the Laphroaig 33 Year Old Strong Characters Chapter One Whisky brings forth more prominent notes of peat smoke
The packaging features stunning illustrations by award-winning British artist Bill Bragg, capturing the essence of Donald Johnston's pioneering spirit. Accompanying the bottle is a booklet that delves deeper into the story of Laphroaig's founding father.
