Introduction
Langmeil Shiraz Hangin' Snakes is a premium red wine from Australia, specifically sourced from the renowned Barossa Valley in South Australia. The winery's history dates back to 1842, and it is currently owned by the Lindner family, who have been part of the Barossa community for six generations. The name 'Hangin' Snakes' originates from a local dialect known as 'Barossa-Deutsch' and was a frequent exclamation used by late grower Wally Krieg during the heat of the vintage.
Wine Description
This wine is primarily a Shiraz, though it historically included a small percentage of Viognier (typically 1% to 4%) to lift the aromatics and brighten the mid-palate. The wine is matured for approximately ten to fifteen months in a combination of seasoned American and French oak barrels.
Colour: It displays a medium to deep ruby or crimson colour with vibrant purple hues.
Aroma: The nose is rich and lifted, featuring intense aromas of Satsuma plum, mulberry, and blueberry mingled with hints of rosemary, black olive, and sweet spice.
Palate: It offers a medium to full-bodied palate with flavours of juicy blackberry jam, dark chocolate, and mocha.
Body: The wine is characterized by a velvety texture and supple tannins that provide an approachable and fleshy structure.
Finish: It concludes with a lengthy and peppery finish, balanced by lingering notes of briary spice and vanilla.
ABV: Langmeil Shiraz Hangin' Snakes is typically bottled with an alcohol content of 14.5%.
