The four-group Linea PBX is La Marzocco's answer for the highest-throughput sites: four saturated groups, a 15 L steam boiler and the PBX technology package, in a 119 cm chassis built to run all day without flagging.
What the X actually changes
- Dynamic preheater: incoming water is brought up to temperature before it reaches the brew boilers. On a four-group machine under continuous load this is the difference between holding temperature and chasing it.
- Pro Touch steam wands as standard: high-performance wands that stay cool to the touch — a meaningful safety and cleanliness gain when several staff are on bar for a full shift.
- Barista lights as standard: integrated LED lighting across the group area so extractions stay readable across all four positions.
- 15 L steam boiler with dual PID: the steam capacity to support three or more baristas on milk continuously, with independent PID so steam pressure and brew temperature hold separately.
- Digital display: temperature readout, shot timers and intuitive programming, with firmware updates over USB.
Choosing your configuration
- AV (Auto-Volumetric): programmable volumetric doses per group with flow-meter control, so every shot stops at the same yield regardless of who is on bar.
- ABR (Auto Brew Ratio): adds precision scales built into the drip tray, dispensing to a programmed brew ratio by mass rather than volume. At four groups with rotating staff, this is where the consistency gain is largest.
Best suited to
Stadiums, airports and transit hubs, large campus and corporate coffee programmes, and flagship cafés running four or more baristas through a sustained peak.
The four-group uses a 2 × 3.4 L coffee boiler arrangement rather than one boiler per group. If per-group temperature control is essential to your build, ask us about the two- and three-group models. SmartSteam, cup warmer, high legs and personalised RAL colours are available to special order. Contact us to confirm current lead time.
