The Linea PB is the machine most specialty cafés picture when they picture a La Marzocco. Built around the saturated group head — a thermosiphon design that keeps the brew group in constant thermal equilibrium with the coffee boiler — it eliminates the heat loss that makes lesser machines drift shot to shot. Paired with two fully independent PID-controlled boilers, it steams and brews simultaneously with no thermal compromise.
Key Features
- Saturated Group Heads: water never leaves the coffee boiler during brewing, so the group is always at temperature. This is the single design decision that made La Marzocco's reputation, and it is why a PB holds its extraction through a two-hour rush.
- Dual Independent Boilers: a 3.4 L coffee boiler and a 7 L steam boiler, each with its own PID. Full-pressure steaming never touches brew-side stability.
- Dual PID Temperature Control: set brew temperature and steam pressure independently from the digital display and adjust on the fly as you move between roasts.
- Digital Display: temperature readout, shot timers, flow pulse counter and intuitive programming.
- SmartSteam (optional): adds a temperature sensor to the steam wand that cuts pressure automatically when the milk hits your target — a real consistency gain with a mixed-experience team.
- Eco / Standby Mode: scheduled standby to cut energy draw outside service hours.
Choosing your configuration
- Auto Volumetric (AV): programmable volumetric doses per group with flow-meter control, so every shot stops at the same yield regardless of who is on bar.
- Auto Brew Ratio (ABR): adds integrated scales in the drip tray. Brew by volume, by mass, or by brew ratio — programme a ratio and the machine dispenses the water needed to reach it.
- Mechanical Paddle (MP): a manual paddle per group giving the barista direct control over pre-infusion and flow. No volumetrics, no electronics in the shot path — the choice for bars that dial in by weight and want tactile control.
