This vibrant and coastal-inspired white wine originates from the United States, specifically from the California region and the Monterey AVA subregion. Established in 1979, La Crema Winery is a family-owned estate that initially gained its reputation in the Russian River Valley before expanding its focus to other premier cool-climate sites. The winery's philosophy is centred on handcrafted, Burgundian-style winemaking that highlights the unique marine-based soils and windy climates of California's coast.
Wine Description
La Crema Chardonnay Monterey presents a brilliant straw yellow colour. The sensory profile features an expressive nose of baked apple, brioche, and pineapple, layered with sophisticated notes of citrus blossom and oak spice. On the palate, the wine is medium to full bodied and 'rich yet refreshing', showcasing flavours of Asian pear, lemon curd, and Meyer lemon concentrated alongside hints of toasted vanilla and smoky spice. It is characterized by its balanced acidity and an elegantly long, zesty finish with notes of minerality. This 100% Chardonnay typically reaches an ABV of 13.5%. While the estate has supported sustainable farming since 1999 and is a certified 'green business', select retail listings also describe this specific bottling as organic.
