Kirk and Sweeney Gran Reserva Superior Rum is a luxuriously smooth and deeply mature premium Dominican rum crafted to honor the legacy of the infamous Prohibition-era wooden schooner. Adhering to the strict legal standards required to bear the official Dominican Rum designation, the spirit is produced using high-quality, locally harvested sugarcane. This exceptional liquid is composed of a hand-selected blend of rums aged between 5 and 23 years in a variety of seasoned oak barrels, serving as the modern flagship replacement for their former 23-year-old age-statement expression. The extended maturation process imparts an incredibly complex and evolutionary character that beautifully balances deep wood layers with refined tropical sweetness.
Food Pairing: Pairs wonderfully with glazed barbecued pork ribs, rich dark chocolate espresso tortes, sharp aged gouda cheese, or a warm bread pudding tossed with spiced pecans.
Tasting Notes : Deep amber with mahogany highlights and a full, smooth, and velvety mouthfeel.
Nose : Rich dried fruits, oak wood, vanilla, brown sugar, and toasted nuts with subtle spices.
Palate : Complex and well-rounded with sweet vanilla, dried plum, dark chocolate, toasted oak, and butterscotch.
Finish : Long, smooth, and elegant with lingering warm oak spice and sweet vanilla.
Serve : Serve neat at room temperature in a snifter glass or over a large ice cube.
