Kilkerran 8 Year Old Cask Strength Bourbon Cask Matured is a robust single malt Scotch whisky from the Glengyle Distillery in Campbeltown, Scotland. Produced by the Mitchell's Glengyle Ltd., the brand takes its name from the Gaelic 'Ceann Loch Cille Chiarain', which refers to the original settlement where Campbeltown stands today. The distillery was rebuilt and resumed production in 2004, and this specific 55.8% ABV expression (Batch #8) is part of a limited annual series released to showcase the maturing stocks of the distillery.
Spirit Description
This expression is matured exclusively in hand-selected ex-bourbon casks for eight years and is bottled at a natural cask strength without chill filtration or added colouring.
Colour: The spirit presents a natural gold to golden amber appearance.
Aroma: The nose is vibrant and floral, featuring sweet notes of vanilla, coconut, and banana, balanced by light peat smoke and a subtle maritime influence.
Palate: It offers a creamy mouthfeel with rich flavours of tropical fruits, honey, and panna cotta, contrasted by earthy peat smoke and savoury notes of Iberico ham.
Body: The whisky is full-bodied and robust, intensifying the typical Campbeltown characteristics through its high alcohol concentration.
Finish: It concludes with a long, smooth finish where lingering peat smoke is complemented by notes of digestive biscuit and a hint of sea salt.
ABV: This specific release is bottled at 55.8%.
