This bottle is a masterclass in complexity. The Kavalan Peatist Oloroso Sherry Cask uses deliberately peated malt. This is a pivotal distinction from their other lines. The spirit then matures entirely in the intense heat of Taiwan, inside high-quality Oloroso Sherry butts. This process accelerates the wood interaction, creating a dense, mahogany-colored liquid in just a few years. It delivers an unforgettable collision of flavors. Unlike a pure sherry bomb, the sweet Oloroso notes of raisin and fig are balanced by a delicate yet earthy layer of sweet smoke.
This is a single cask, cask-strength bottling. It means every drop is unfiltered and uncolored, maintaining the profound intensity and natural complexity drawn from the wood. It offers the best of both worlds: the rich, dark-fruit maturity of a well-aged sherry malt and the savory complexity of peat smoke. It’s an essential expression for collectors who want to see how this revolutionary Taiwanese distillery can reinvent classic flavor profiles.
