Jim Beam Black Double Aged 7 Year American Whiskey Bourbon (750 ML) is the older, richer side of a famous family name. It is made at the Jim Beam distillery in Clermont, Kentucky. The whiskey spends seven years in charred white oak barrels. That is far longer than the classic white label. In 2024 it gained a clear 7 year age statement and a higher 90 proof.
The mash bill is 77% corn, 13% rye and 10% malted barley. Time in the barrel turns it a deep, rich gold. It also rounds off any rough edges.
Bring the glass up and you smell charred oak first. Brown sugar sweetness and vanilla come right behind. The palate is full-bodied, with rich caramel and hints of baking spice. As it fades, caramel and warm oak linger. The whole sip stays smooth and easy.
Competition judges have taken notice. Jim Beam lists a Platinum Medal from the SIP Awards for this bottle. It also earned Gold with 94 points at the North American Bourbon & Whiskey Competition. Silver medals came from the International Wine & Spirit Competition, the New York International Spirits Competition and the American Whiskey Masters.
Pour it neat or over ice after a long day. It also makes a sturdy Old Fashioned or Manhattan. Try it with BBQ ribs, smoked brisket or aged cheddar. If you want an everyday bourbon with extra age at a fair price, this one fits the bill.
