The Jack Daniel's Twice Barreled Special Release Heritage Barrel Rye Whiskey is a part of the Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Special Release series. This limited edition whiskey has a unique profile, crafted from a mashbill of 70% rye, 18% corn, and 12% malted barley. The whiskey undergoes charcoal mellowing before its first five years of aging in handmade American white oak barrels. It then undergoes a secondary two-year aging process in signature heritage barrels, which are lightly charred and heavily toasted to add depth and complexity to the flavor.
The whiskey is bottled at 100 proof, offering a balance of sweet and spicy notes. The nose of the whiskey reveals rich scents of holiday spiced raisins, toasted oak, and hints of brown sugar with honey. The classic Jack Daniel’s banana note is also faintly present. On the palate, it presents an oak-forward profile with flavors of baking spices, dry cinnamon stick, light rye spice, hints of caramel, spiced raisins, and leather. The finish carries forward with dry oak and notes of dark dry raisins, light rye bread, baking spices, dry cinnamon powder, and leather.
This special release is available only in the U.S. and is a celebration of the whiskey-making traditions of Jack Daniel's Distillery and the barrel-making expertise of their cooperage. It's considered to be well-suited for enthusiasts who appreciate a complex whiskey with a unique production method.
