J Lohr Cabernet Sauvignon Carol's Vineyard originates from the St. Helena subregion of Napa Valley, California. Named in honour of Jerry Lohr's late wife, Carol Waldorf Lohr, this 35-acre estate vineyard is situated along the Napa River where gravelly, sandy loam soils provide ideal drainage. The winery’s philosophy for this site focuses on producing richly textured, luxury-quality fruit while supporting the 'Touching Lives' initiative, which donates three dollars from every bottle sold to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
Wine Description
This deeply pigmented Cabernet Sauvignon displays an opulent sensory profile. The nose is expressive with aromas of blackcurrant, cassis, and ripe black cherry layered with hazelnut, sweet tobacco, violets, and patisserie notes. On the palate, the wine is concentrated and polished, featuring dark berry flavours, opulent tannins, and a juicy mouthfeel accented by hints of coffee bean, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cocoa.
Food Pairing
This wine's robust structure and deep fruit profile pair exceptionally well with rich, savoury dishes such as grilled ribeye steak with rosemary and shallots or a porcini-crusted pork tenderloin. It also complements pasta served with a mushroom cream sauce or hard, aged cheeses like gouda and cheddar.
