Introduction
Raasay Na Sia Unpeated Ex-Rye Single Cask is a distinctive single malt Scotch whisky produced on the Isle of Raasay in the Inner Hebrides, Scotland. The spirit is crafted by the Isle of Raasay Distillery, which became the island's first legal distillery when it opened in 2017. Founded by Bill Dobbie and Alasdair Day of R&B Distillers, the estate is located in a converted Victorian hotel and is dedicated to producing artisanal whiskies that reflect the island's unique geology and maritime climate.
Spirit Description
This single cask expression presents a bright golden hue in the glass. The nose is vibrant and aromatic, offering a 'sea of fruit' with prominent notes of butterscotch, vanilla, and sweet malt. On the palate, the unpeated spirit reveals a robust and spicy character influenced by its maturation in first-fill Woodford Reserve rye whiskey casks, delivering intense flavours of black pepper, ginger, and cinnamon balanced by honeyed sweetness. The finish is long and warming, marked by a persistent spicy tingle and lingering notes of creamy toffee. It is bottled at a natural cask strength, typically ranging between 60.1% and 61.6% ABV depending on the specific cask.
