About the Brand:
Hoyo de Monterrey, classified by Habanos S.A as a global brand, was founded in 1865 by José Gener, a Spanish immigrant who settled in Cuba in the 1830s. He named the brand after a fertile valley in the Vuelta Abajo region - “El Hoyo de Monterrey”, which translates to “The Hole of Monterrey” - a reference to the low-lying, nutrient-rich land that produced exceptional tobacco.
By the early 20th century, Hoyo de Monterrey had become one of Cuba’s most prominent cigar brands, known especially for its smooth, mild flavor profile that gained popularity in the European market. Today, it remains a staple of Cuban cigar culture, appreciated by both seasoned aficionados and newcomers alike.
