Big anniversaries deserve a pour with real presence, and this one doesn’t hold back. Heaven Hill Distillery 90th Anniversary Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey brings together 9-year-old barrels from Rickhouses G and H, laid down back in 2015. The mashbill leans classic Kentucky—78% corn, 12% malted barley, 10% rye—so you get generous sweetness backed by a confident spice thread. Bottled at 107 proof and non-chill filtered, it lands with a velvety weight on the palate while still feeling energetic and bright.
There’s a sense of occasion baked into this whiskey’s DNA. The blend marries 70% standard Kentucky Straight Bourbon with 30% bourbon aged in heavy-char “alligator” barrels, highlighting deeper oak tones and toasted edges.
That extra char nudges forward dark caramel, vanilla, and seasoned wood, while a seam of fruit keeps the profile from ever feeling heavy or clumsy.
Sip it slowly and you’ll notice how the sweetness, spice, and charred oak keep trading places, like a conversation that never quite repeats itself.
This release feels built for enthusiasts who enjoy detail in their glass.
Each of the 204 barrels was selected to represent nine years and eight months of patient maturation, emphasizing structure without sacrificing character.
The result is a bourbon that drinks comfortably at its proof, offering a layered, almost tactile complexity that rewards unhurried evenings and second pours.
