Tasting notes: Jasmine, Bergamot, White Peach, Green Tea, Honey
Alo Coffee was founded by Tamiru Tadesse and his wife, Messi, to bring greater recognition to coffees from Sidama, Ethiopia. In 2021, a lot from their home village of Alo won Ethiopia’s Cup of Excellence.
This coffee comes from Miriga in Bensa, Sidama. After pulping, the coffee ferments for 48 hours without added water, then is washed and dried. Hatch recommends filter brewing for its jasmine, bergamot, white peach, green tea and honey profile.
The lot uses the 74158 selection from Miriga in Bensa, grown at 2,380–2,480 metres. Its dry-fermented washed preparation is different from Alo’s mosto naturals and honey lots. That distinction is important to the jasmine, bergamot, white-peach, green-tea and honey profile described for this release.
