This exceptionally rare, monumental, and multi-dimensional Italian red masterpiece from the magnificent 2017 vintage is a true sensory kaleidoscope from the legendary hands of winemaker Celestino Gaspari. It opens with an authoritative, breathtakingly complex bouquet of forest fruit marmalade, dark cassis, and black cherries, masterfully interwoven with sophisticated notes of vanilla bean, toasted coconut, sweet tobacco leaf, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a distinctive streak of smoky mineral ash. On the full-bodied, enveloping palate, it showcases an ultimate precision and an impeccable vertical architectural depth. A dense, unctuous core of luscious dark fruits is beautifully counterbalanced by a refreshing, vibrant acidity and anchored by sleek, velvety-smooth tannins that carry into a remarkably long, persistent finish marked by a persuasive, charming fruit sweetness.
Food Pairing: A majestic partner for ultra-fine gastronomy; pairs flawlessly with complex game dishes, roasted lamb with intensely spiced reductions, matured hard cheeses, or enjoyed entirely on its own as a profound meditation wine.
92 Points- James Suckling
A spicy wine with lots of toasty aromas such as vanilla and coconut as well as cassis and black cherries. Full-bodied, it has refreshing acidity and velvety tannins despite the extraction. The flavorful aftertaste is fully saturated. Drinkable now but best from 2027.
