Gunderloch Roter Hang Erste Lage Nierstein Riesling 2023
This Riesling comes from Gunderloch, one of Rheinhessen’s most respected estates, founded in 1890 and based in Nierstein. Sourced from Erste Lage vineyards within the renowned Roter Hang slopes, the wine reflects the region’s distinctive red slate soils and cool-climate precision. The estate is recognised for producing mineral-driven Rieslings with freshness, purity and ageing potential. Fermentation takes place slowly in stainless steel to preserve aromatic clarity and site expression. Extended lees ageing builds texture while retaining the wine’s vibrant acidity and saline minerality.
- The nose shows lime zest, white peach and green apple with floral lift and smoky slate notes.
- The palate delivers citrus, orchard fruit and bright acidity balanced by pronounced mineral tension.
- The finish is long and focused with wet stone, lemon peel and lingering saline freshness.
Pair with grilled seafood, sushi or lightly spiced Asian dishes to complement the wine’s acidity and mineral drive.
