The Cosmic Journey Continues... 'Angel's Egg' is the second chapter in Gong’s legendary Radio Gnome Invisible trilogy, delving deeper into the surreal, otherworldly universe introduced on 'Flying Teapot'. Originally released in 1973, this album chronicles the continuing adventures of Zero the Hero and the Pot Head Pixies, expanding Daevid Allen’s visionary mythology into an ambitious world of flying teapots, cosmic transmissions, spiritual awakening, and playful rebellion.
Musically, 'Angel's Egg' pushes Gong’s unique fusion of psychedelic rock, progressive experimentation, jazz improvisation, and anarchic humour into new territory. The album features hypnotic grooves, swirling synthesizers, gliding guitars, saxophone excursions, and eccentric vocal characters, moving effortlessly between the playful and the profound. It captures Gong’s classic line-up at their most imaginative and adventurous, featuring cult favourites such as “Other Side Of The Sky”, “Oily Way”, “Flute Salad” and “You Can’t Kill Me”.
This deluxe reissue has been remastered from the original BYG Records tapes and cut at half-speed at the UK’s world-famous Stardelta Studios by Grammy Award–winning mastering engineer Lewis Hopkin, delivering exceptional depth, clarity, and detail. The CD edition recreates the gatefold artwork in a special deluxe format and includes a 16-page booklet faithfully replicating Daevid Allen’s original 1973 guide to the characters, stories, and mythology of the Radio Gnome Invisible saga.
