GlenDronach 12 Year Old Original is one of the finest and most celebrated sherry-matured single malts in Scotland — a whisky that has earned a devoted global following for its extraordinary richness, depth, and the sheer quality of its sherry cask maturation. Founded in 1826 in the lush Forgue valley of Aberdeenshire, GlenDronach is one of the Highland's most historically significant distilleries, and its unwavering commitment to traditional sherry cask maturation — using only Pedro Ximénez and oloroso sherry casks sourced from Jerez, Spain — has made it the benchmark against which all sherry-matured Scotch is measured.
The 12 Year Old Original is matured exclusively in a combination of Pedro Ximénez and oloroso sherry casks for the full 12 years — no bourbon casks, no compromise. The result is a whisky of remarkable consistency and depth: a rich, fruit-forward Highland malt that delivers the full sherry experience in every glass. The nose is opulent and deeply inviting — dark chocolate, ripe plum, and a generous dried fruit sweetness open up to reveal notes of cinnamon, toasted oak, and a warm vanilla underpinning from the sherry wood. On the palate, it's full-bodied and sumptuously layered: Christmas cake, dark cherry, toffee, and a warming spice build with a velvety richness and a depth that makes it one of the most satisfying and rewarding 12-year-old single malts available at any price. The finish is long, warm, and deeply satisfying — dark fruit, chocolate, and a gentle sherry sweetness fading gracefully.
The sherry lover's benchmark — GlenDronach 12 Original is the definitive expression of what fully sherry-matured Highland single malt can be.
