Glen Scotia 12 Year Old is a standout addition to the distillery’s core range, beautifully capturing the quintessential maritime and fruit-forward character of Campbeltown. Matured entirely in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels, this expression is presented in its purest form—non-chill filtered and at natural color. The result is a vibrant, oily, and highly approachable single malt that masterfully balances coastal sea spray with rich, caramel-sweetened tropical fruits.
Food Pairing: The coastal salinity of this whisky makes it a spectacular companion for fresh seafood like oysters, smoked salmon, or seared scallops. To play off its sweet, tropical notes, pair it with roasted pork belly, creamy brie cheese, or a slice of pineapple upside-down cake.
TASTING NOTES - A remarkably natural, bright golden liquid with a thick, viscous, and oily texture that beautifully coats the glass.
NOSE - Opens with an inviting wave of fresh coastal sea spray, quickly followed by honeyed vanilla, ripe pineapple, green mango, and tangy citrus peel, all underpinned by a gentle touch of toasted oak.
Palate - Rich, warming, and heavily mouth-coating. It delivers wonderful layers of caramelized sugar and juicy tropical fruits, balanced by a distinct maritime salinity, vanilla cream, and a vibrant zest of lemon.
FINISH - Long, warming, and deeply satisfying, trailing off with lingering notes of sweet cinnamon, nutmeg spice, toasted oak, and a final whisper of a coastal sea breeze.
SERVE - Best enjoyed neat in a Glencairn glass to fully appreciate its robust aromas and thick texture. Adding a few drops of water can help unlock even more of its underlying tropical fruit notes.
