Introduction
This red wine originates from Georgia, specifically from the Kindzmarauli micro-zone within the Kakheti region of eastern Georgia. Produced by Tbilvino under the Georgian Valleys label, the winery is currently managed by brothers Zurab and Giorgi Margvelashvili, who have overseen the modernisation of this historic estate founded in 1962. The winery's philosophy bridges centuries-old Georgian traditions with contemporary techniques, utilizing the unique terroir on the left bank of the Alazani River where mineral-rich alluvial soils and black shale help ripen grapes to high sugar levels.
Wine Description
Georgian Valleys Kindzmarauli displays an amazing combination of dark ruby and vibrant scarlet colours with violet tones. The nose is scented and expressive, offering aromas of Maraschino cherry, cassis, blackberry, and dried fig layered with hints of raisins and white chocolate. On the palate, the wine is velvety and medium-bodied, featuring a harmonious balance between its natural semi-sweet fruitiness and a delightful acidity. It is characterized by its lush texture and dominant tones of ripe black cherry, pomegranate, and chocolate, leading to a smooth, persistent finish with notes of spice and pepper.
Food Pairing
The natural sweetness and structured tannins of Kindzmarauli make it an exceptionally versatile companion for both savoury and dessert courses. It pairs perfectly with chocolate cake, ripe strawberries, and fruit-based desserts like cherry pie or blackberry cobbler. Its acidity and bold fruit also complement spicy Asian dishes, tangy barbecued meats, grilled lamb, and blue cheese, where the wine's sweetness softens the cheese's sharpness.
