Ross & Squibb completely knocked it out of the park. Following their Babe Ruth release, this ultra-limited bourbon honors the legendary Lou Gehrig with just 9,665 bottles available. You won't find this sitting around. Master Distiller Ian Stirsman expertly blended four distinct mashbills to match the famous number four jersey of the iconic first baseman.
The whiskey itself stands as a masterclass in expert blending. Seventy percent of the liquid comes from a 2017 high-rye bourbon that provides an incredibly rich and spicy backbone. It's genuinely a heavy hitter. Stirsman anchored that heat with an older 2016 vintage while rounding out the profile using sweet corn and subtle rye from 2019.
Expect a boldly authentic pour. You'll immediately notice the dense mahogany color swirling in your glass. The intricate combination of mature barrels yields an assertive yet deeply balanced spirit that commands your full attention without overwhelming the palate. Sipping this rare reserve feels like owning a tangible piece of history.
- Strictly limited to 9,665 bottles representing his career plate appearances
- Bottled at 109 proof to honor his 1926 RBI season
- Crafted from four unique MGP mashbills reflecting his jersey number
