Frescobaldi, a distinguished name in Italian winemaking, has been crafting exceptional wines for over 700 years. The family's Castello Nipozzano estate, located in the heart of Tuscany's Chianti Rufina region, is celebrated for its rich history and unwavering commitment to quality. Within this estate lies the renowned Montesodi vineyard, known for its stony terrain and ideal conditions for producing Sangiovese of remarkable depth and complexity.
The 2017 Montesodi Toscana is a 100% Sangiovese wine that showcases the varietal’s elegance and structure. It presents an intense ruby-red color with tinges of purple, reflecting its concentration and vibrancy. The nose is expressive, with aromas of ripe red fruits and citrus, enhanced by subtle tertiary notes of spice and vanilla from aging. On the palate, the wine is rich and dense, with a refined texture, mature tannins, and a persistent, balanced finish that underscores its quality.
This wine pairs beautifully with grilled meats, particularly bistecca alla fiorentina, as well as rich pasta dishes or aged Pecorino cheese. Together, these pairings elevate the wine’s complexity and create an unforgettable dining experience.
The 2017 vintage in Tuscany experienced a warm growing season, which led to early ripening and a harvest that began in early September. Despite the heat, the Montesodi vineyard’s unique terroir allowed for the creation of a wine that maintains exceptional balance and expression, reflecting the skill and care of Frescobaldi’s winemaking team.
