Magma Rosso is the Grand Vin of Frank Cornelissen, a Belgian-born producer who established his estate on the northern slopes of Mount Etna in Sicily in 2001. It is made from 100% Nerello Mascalese grown in Contrada Barbabecchi at 870 to 910 meters elevation, from ungrafted vines planted around 1910 on volcanic soils. The grapes are destemmed and lightly crushed, fermented with indigenous yeasts and around 50 days of skin contact, then aged in neutral tanks and bottle before release. It is produced only in vintages that reach full phenolic ripeness.
